We had a car that was fuel starved once. It was OK at idlee and low speed, but would stumble and stutter from fuel staration at higher speeds. After much time and money spent, turned out ot be a rubber hose section between the tank and pump with a small crack was sucking air at the higher demand rates. Found it after the hose split open and car would not go.
