Mike & List,
I found the magazine that has a bunch of engine weights in it. The
information is not necessarily reliable and doesn't say whether the engine was
'dressed' with alternator, water pump, etc,
A-Series = 252 lb (115Kg)
Ford Crossflow = 165lb (75Kg)
There's the first problem the Crossflow is much lighter than the A-series
when I said it was heavier. I'll bet the A-series figure is with a transverse
gearbox on it.
Ford Pinto = 290lb (131Kg)
Ford Zetec = 238lb (108Kg)
K-series = 216lb (98Kg)
The crossflow weight now looks to be the suspect because the K-series and
Zetec are alumunium alloy blocks and heads of similiar size to each other and
the
Crossflow so here come they are heavier? The A-series still looks to be on
the heavy side.
So much for magazine information.
