I've seen a few in South Jersey (the Marlton circle comes to mind) where
the circle is controlled by traffic lights, with a road cutting through
the middle. Kinda defeats the purpose, don't you think? ;-)

Here in Chicagoland we have two traffic circles with rumors of a third.
I
believe only one of them is in a location that sees any significant
volume
of traffic. No matter what time or day you hit that sucker, you are
guaranteed to be behind some poor soul who has never seen one before. I
happen to like traffic circles, but not with stop signs coming into
them.
Yield? sure! Stop?!?! And just who is the inside lane intended for?

who don't intend to get off of the circle?
