Ok, this is a bit late, but once again the Valentine's put on a great
show. I'll have to say that the rally map (which was large enough to
double as a tonneua cover) was pretty funny. Even folded it sometime
got in the way. It was a series of about 30 pictures that showed you
where to turn. Not so easy when there was not a stop sign in the
picture. There was also a scavenger hunt. Lisa and did well at a yard
sale that was run by some lady who was 99 years old if a day. Not sure
why, but old people always seem to have empty bread wrappers and we
needed one. Anyway we this older lady 4 or 5 things that we need and
she said, "I have that in the basement." and off she went. After a
couple of minutes she appeared in the kitchen window and said, "I got
the nail. What else do you need?" and off to the basement again. She
was very helpful but we stopped asking for things because we were afraid
all the trips to the basement would have killed her.
The funniest rally moment was when the clue asked "In the cemetery, what
is the site number of the something something tower?" As I pulled into
the cemetery I see Larry Macy wandering around the tombstones. About
150 feet to his right is a giant cellular tower. I mean big. I drive
up to the fence around the tower and find the site number. Not sure how
he missed seeing that tower and still came in first.
We came in forth which is not bad for a team that has a driver called
"Wrong way Gilroy".
Anyway a great time was had by all who attended. I recommend if you are
within an 8 hour drive you join next years rally. Who knows what
twisted evil they have in store. A special thanks to Rob Valentine for
spending all the time to put the rally together. That is no small effort.
