LOL, Dave...
....my "build" was not that expensive, really. Not more than 5 grand
and that included a newly built 5 speed
which I really didn't need at this particular
point in time...but in the long pull, it was
the "right time" to renew the box, financially speaking.
What I didn't realize is how good my
thinking was on this particular engine spec in terms of theory BUT, the
ideas weren't mine. The actual thought was
to enhance the planned Judson blower
installation in terms of minimizing blower
rpm with respect to "overdriving" the blower for the original 6psi boost
curve
to the larger bore engine.
Credit belongs to Dave V. and Bill Perry.
I just listened to two guys who know a
lot more than I and combined THEIR thinking....and got lucky on the
EN40B
crank...pure luck in terms of "timing".
For autox, the only thing I
would change in the drivetrain would be
the diff. ratio.....to a 4.22...with upgraded
half-shafts.
I would lower the car 1" all around, stiffer
front springs, retain the 3/4 front bar and
install a Speedwell Panhard set-up.
Add 3/8 spacers on the rear wheels (already have 'em for next time rear
brakes are done....new drums) and
60 series rubber all around....change
brake compounds. That's it...I'm ready..
Simpson 3" 4 point (cannot find large
enough belt for "5th point", heh, heh, heh:)
already installed.
Don't forget though, this is supposed to
be my "last build"....so I did it "right" and
built it to last! Thus, no autox planned at
THIS time....though this could change! :)
