Well....
In terms of summer driving, one cannot really go wrong with an oil
cooler, especially if doing any sustained high
rpm work.
It also adds to the quantity of the oil
system which is not a bad thing. You
already have a larger oil capacity sump
which in and of itself will lower oil temps
a bit.
Oils are also better today then yesteryear, also. This is especially
true of synthetics
with their superior heat handling characteristics with respect to film
strength.
Remember, if you add an oilstadt instead
of simply using an oil cooler cover to block off an oil cooler in
winter, you will
need to monitor correct functioning of the
oilstadt, temperature-wise, in the event
it may fail. So, you'll need an oil temp.
gauge to insure it's correct functioning.
