In addition to the pic of the Chuckster there is an ongoing article: Midget
vs. Miata. Should be very interesting. They are taking a 1971 Midget and
crating a Miata-beater. WooHoo!! Currently the ragged out midget (with a
crapped out motor, bad tranny, old tires, broken rear suspension and screwed
up steering) lapped the test track only 3 seconds slower than the stock
Miata. They plan on a new APT engine, rebuilt MG tranny (no 5-speed
conversion) and repairing the suspension.
They were thinking the Midget would be about 20 seconds a lap slower. BUT
NO!! Only 3 seconds!! The old gal should smoke the soulless one when all
is said and done.
