There was a factory part to allow chains to fasten to brackets that fastened
on the valve cover studs. The only time I saw it used it failed in operation
but not from a great height. The mechanic says ....... first time I have seen
that happen. It was the last time I ever saw it.
I rope under the front engine pulley and rope at the back of the block - each
being a separate loop. I have another loop going horizontal to join the 2
vertical loops and I hook this to the jib of the crane pulley and allows the
engine to rotate on the loops as it comes out at that steep and dangerous
looking
angle. I always remove the distributor, carb and inlet and exhaust
manifolds. I always pull the gearbox at the same time and I think I remove the
starter
motor.
