I am installing a steering rack into my '79 Midget. It is getting new tie
rod ends. What methods do clever listers use to align the front wheels for toe
in/toe out adjustment? Short of taking the car to an alignment specialist? I
was told that because the camber and castor are set that the front alignment
could be adequately set with a string that you run along the rear wheel then
adjust so that both horizontal tire surfaces of the front tire touches the
string. That sounds reasonable, with a back-up check of the difference between
the rear of the front tires and the front of the front tires. Any thoughts or
other methods?
