I ran a 4.2 with a 5 speed and found it really short and soon swapped back
the 3.9 (the 4.2 was for testing purposes). With the 4.2 it seemed to take
ages
to get anyway and with more noise.
My car cruises at 90 with a 3.9.
Why run a 4.2 with a 5 speed - you get a really low first gear that isn't
much use and a 5th not that much higher than a 4 speed with a 3.9.
