I think that if the car will be a non-original color, what's the point of NOT
upgrading the mechanicals? My vote is to make it a runner with a 1275,
ribcase, and disk brakes up front. The 5 speed conversion would be nice, but
BMC
parts are easier to come by for the future owner. There were more 1275s and
ribcases made than any other engine or tranny for these cars.
The only other logical choice is to make it a purely original car, and,
unless the numbers match, it probably isn't worth it. It would also limit the
people who would be interested. What cars always win the popularity voting at
car
shows? The non-orignals. If we are selling raffle tickets, this is a
popularity contest.
I'll leave the electric windows up to Frank.
