I mount my extinguisher in passenger footwell just in front of the
seat.
In Rally Tasmania they required 2 extinguishers, so I mounted the 2nd
behind the passenger seat on the rear shelf.
Another place I saw on some of the rally cars is in the center
under/behind the dash (i.e. in front and above the shifter) mounted
horizontally.
Absolutely agree with Chuck on the insistence on metal bracketry
