Thanks Frank,
Biff's tires got deducted for condition NOT originality. And I'm sorry, 40
year old tires have cracks...BIG cracks. Tires like that in Concours
competition get deducted for safety and condition. Although they are
original ...when the car left the factory, those cracks weren't there. I
applaud Biff for not removing them... saving posterity. My low mikleage MKII
came from the same auction in Delaware as "Ol Gray". I have since installed
tons of period accessories...and NONE would be deducted for originality.
Sounds like you folks need to read the guidelines and policies and
procedures. And another thing... Being a judge (Chief Judge) is no fun.
That I can promise you. I can also promise you that it is 200% fair. Any
one that wants to accuse me or any other judge of favoring friends needs to
step up and be a bit more precise in their accusations. Also, if that were
the case, every Sprite that gets judged here on the east coast would go GOLD
because I know and consider friends just about everyone that has their car
judged. So....put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Love always,
George Marinos
