the sender IS in the tank. It is common for them to lock up if they have been
left sitting for a while. There is a plug on most tanks to drain them. Remove
the
sender and get a good penetrating oil and spray the works down. Let it set for a
while and VERY gently start to move the float lever back and forth. Don't force
it, and don't try to use the slot on the other side of the unit to loosen it
with
a screwdriver!! If you are lucky, with a little work and alot of patience, it
will free up.
