Hi, Mark-

Most users of the 45DCOE have "tuned"
motors.....otherwise, why bother with a
DCOE!!

These tuned units normally use higher
compression ratios to go with the more
wilder than stock camshafts which normally are used to increase
mid-range torque and upper range horsepower.

The higher compression ratios produce
more combustion heat and on today's
relatively garbage octanes, this type of
motor can fine itself on the edge of
detonation and pre-ignition, due to
residual "heat" after the throttle is backed
off to high speed cruise (after initial hard
acceleration to "get there").....and this is
exactly where vacuum "advance" would
"come in" and exactly what you would NOT WANT under the aforementioned
driving condition.

The Aldon "yellow" takes the above into
account with "modified" curves for the
"modified" road engine as I understand
it....it's different from the stock dizzy in
this respect, I believe.

However, for better information on this
I would contact someone like David Anton
(or one of the other usual suspects!) for
"better" information than I have to offer
in this particular respect.

www.aptfast.com will access David Anton's e-mail box at APT.
