Fellow Spridgets - My mechanic (more apropos would be maniac!) and I are
trying to solve a problem with which perhaps someone can help. I installed
the original type 1 1/8" Skinner-Union carbs on my 948 cc '59 Bugeye. He is
using a Colortune unit to set the mixture. We cannot get the mixture to
lean out - it is always too rich. Rebuild carbs, reamed and oversized
throttle shafts, new needles (lean) flush with bottom of plunger, new jets
with bottom nuts all the way up, floats adjusted properly, good compression
on the engine, valve lash good. What are we missing? Any thoughts?
