List
Yesterday I stumbled across a couple dozen Geo and or Chevy Metros.
All the radiators are the same with the exception of the standard tranny
models using a slightly taller rad. This one will NOT fit.
Get the rad from an automatic Metro 3 banger.
IT DOES FIT IN A SQUARE BODY SPRIDGET.
I stuck one in a 71 Midget, closed the bonnet, climbed under the car and
up into the engine bay (engine was out) and there was a good inch of
clearance from the top of the rad cap to the bottom of the bonnet.
So I know it fits. Kevin was a witness.
Bottom of the rad has to sit on the front frame rails and inbetween the
2 uprights on the car.
After a couple weeks of use, I have not exceeded 180* at speed or in
traffic. 170 seems to be the norm with a 160* stat.
So if you have a hot running Spridget (A series) grab a Metro radiator
complete with electric fan from any junkyard. Going price seems to be
$40. Next I might try to use the automatic trans cooling lines as an oil
cooler. Nice neat it might even work.
