If you've recently tried to rebuild the master cylinder, it could be a
problem with the spring washer that is supposed to go between the rubber cup
and the piston. The slight 'cup' shape to the washer allows brake fluid to
get through the ring of holes in the piston head. Failure to correctly
position this trivial little spring washer will cause a problem with the
return of the piston.
If thats not it, consider Sierra Speciality Automotive in Quincy, CA for a
rebuild of the master cylinder. He resleeves them with brass and does a
great job.
