Hello spridgets,
i had the low beam on one side go out. this was AFTER messing with
the leads to the horn, soooo i figure that its in the wiring i have
bundled up behind the grill. .. sure enough, one of the connections
has pulled loose.... so i push it back together, and voila, low
beams work!.. then i turned them off ..and back on again.. and
SMOKE!... pouring out of the wiring harness!
i turned of the headlights before the whole thing went up in flame,
but the low beam wire it cooked... i mean the insulation practically
melted off! is this NOT fused, or WHAT? .. so.. the basic question
is.........
how hard is it to "pull" a new wire through the factory
harness, using the [remnants of] old wire? can it be
done, or should i thread a new one inside the outer
plastic jacket of the harness? .. or just do my usual
"checkbook mechanic" thing and take it to a shop?
ALSO... i filled the tranny last night with 20-50 as per
recommendations (THANX TO ALL) and this morning there is BIG
puddle of oil under the car... where are the likely spots to
"tighten up" to rid myself of the "leak"...
(i know paul, buy the 5 speed and be done with it! maybe NEXT
summer?)
