The VSCDA is pleased to announce that John Sprinzel will be the Guest of
Honor at the upcoming Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival at Road America, Elkhart
Lake, WI, September 20-22.
A little about John...
"John Sprinzel's name is synonymous with Sprites in a golden age of
motorsports. In the latter 1950s he drove Austin saloons and then Sprites on
the European road rally circuit, and he later went on to drive for many
factory rally teams including Triumph, Saab, Rover and BMC. He has been a
motoring correspondent, is the author of 'Modified Motoring', 'Sleepless
Knights', and 'Spritely Years', and he even did a stint as a TV commentator
on rallycross.
John also founded "Speedwell Performance Conversions," and he later worked
for the Donald Healey Motor Company for a time, running the Speed Equipment
Division there. He subsequently founded his own tuning company where he
developed and built the Sebring Sprite.
John retired in 1973 and took up windsurfing professionally until 1989, and
he has lived in Hawaii since 1983, and by the way, he drives a Bugeye
Sprite." (Austin Healey Magazine)
