1. - What speedo gearbox? On the tranny? Could they be the backup light
wires?
2. - That black box is probably the electronic ignition. Do the wires go to
the distributor? My '77 Midget had a Piranha ignition that didn't work. Buy
a Pertronix that fits entirely inside the distributor and throw away the
black box.
OOPS - Yes, you can roll the car over on it's side when it is stripped for
easier access to work underneath. I would not recommend doing it with the
engine installed! You can find plans on-line for a "rotisserie" to make
rolling the car easier. (Anyone know a URL for this?) Once everything is
out of the car, they are fairly light and easy to maneuver.
Caution! - Make sure the car is secure before working under it!
