Great and fun post Kate. My attitude was pretty much like yours.
Heck, in my day that full coverage insurance wouldn't have extended to the
male of the species. Their insurance was about twice as much as my very
reasonable coverage. So, like you, even though HIS Sprite was just like MY
Sprite, we never drove each other's cars. When we got married, we had to pay
extra for insurance for a month so he could drive the only Sprite remaining
between us (HERS) before returning to active military duty. I was the
primary driver until the last rebuild, and what the heck, he's been keeping
it running for 40 years or so, he deserves to drive it some of the time too.
Besides, I don't commute anymore.
As for petting the cat--she gets insulted if she can't have her place on the
bed between us.
