I have a funny story involving a Model T. When my mother got her first job as
a teacher in a little mountain school (nearby was a "still" which the mountain
men around there tended - Tuscarora Mountains in PA and she had to "board"
with a family at the bottom of the mountain and the man would haul her up to
the tiny little one room school and start the fire for her in the potbellied
stove - she had 6 pupils, one of them older than she was) - anyhow, she bought
her first car - a Model T. She went for her driver's license test and when
she and the instructor got back to the place they started from, she hit the
gas pedal instead of the brake and ran them both thru the front plate glass
window in the building. GUESS WHAT!!!! He passed her - said "no way am I
getting back in a car with you ever again!"
