Struck a chord - last Tuesday I was to go up to Peter
C.'s after work to work on the race car (driver's
school 9/14!). Bobby (10) called me at work and
begged me to pick him up and bring him too. Peter set
him up a little work area next to the car, he absorbed
it all and worked on his puzzles, Legos, and books in
parallel to our car labor. He crashed on Peter's
couch at 9:15 (before the really good cusswords were
brought out), I woke him at 11:30 or so, poured him
into his seat in the truck for the drive home. He
woke up long enough to mumble something about it being
the greatest night of his life (he says that a lot - I
guess life gets better everyday).
Kids take it all in - we just need to make sure they
are given the opportunity to take in the right stuff.
