I don't know about the going labor costs of balancing, but it is, from all I
have read and heard, well worth doing. Next time I tear down my engine, I
plan to do the balancing act myself. I understand it results in a much
smoother running engine, much the same as balancing a wheel results in a much
smoother ride.
