If I may comment on tool selection. I was a heavy-line mechanic for eleven
years. No professional mechanic has a matched set of tools. For example, I
can open the drawer to my combination wrenches and immediately locate my
half-inch Bonney twelve point, if I want a little more torque, I reach for my
Mac six point, which is a little bit longer. I could find it in the dark if
need be. I have a Matco 9/16, and an S-K 5/8. Having a myriad of
manufacturers makes tool selection easier. The Bonney wrenches are my
favorite and Craftsman my least, they are so heavy. Although I have a 1/4
inch drive 5/16 Craftsman socket that is cracked up the side. I was going to
replace it until I noticed that the crack would widen and slip on the bolt at
the exact torque needed for the valve body in a Ford C-6 automatic
transmission. I probably assembled 200 transmissions with my special socket
wiht nary a problem. Diversity leads to efficiency.
