On the Bugeye (and early Mk II, I believe) there is no foam, but a layer of
cardboard that follows the outline of the front, rear and bottom sides of the
door pocket. Various books should contains photos. Otherwise email me off-list
and I will send a photo of mine.
The pocket is secured to the door by pop rivets through the bottom holes and
phillips machine screws and a finishing washer through the top holes. Again,
various books should contains photos. Otherwise email me off-list and I will
send
a photo of mine.
I have always had success using 3M 08080 or whatever it's current equivalent may
be. Any cardboard that is approximately 1/16" thick will be suitable to make the
built-up perimeter.
Also, the metal edge on top is curved away from the door. Email me off-list and
if you need a photo.
If you have more questions, it would be easier to send me your door pockets and
the vinyl and I will cover them for you.
