The late 1950s and early 1960s are seen by many today as the Golden
Age of sports cars. Those concours cars of today were being raced,
rallied, autocrossed, and gymkhanaed week-in and week-out. Today, many
of those who experienced the fun in Memphis are planning a reunion to
mark the closing this summer of Small Car Motors, the oldest sports car
shop in the Mid-South. In the past four decades, many have scattered
around the country, but already people have made plans to come from the
four corners of the United States. Still, we are searching for anyone
who belonged to any of the six different sports car clubs in Memphis
during the period. If you should know anyone active in the Mid-South at
the time, have them contact either Phillip Herold, Small Car Motors,
3003 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN, 38112, or Buster Evans in Anaheim,
California, at b-evans@earthlink.net.
