Gary & I bought a 98 Plymouth Neon a little over a year ago. It had 20,000 on it
at the time, it presently reads just a smidge under 40,000. 8000 of the miles
accrued during last year's vacation, in 11 actual driving days, so you know I
pushed him pretty hard. He has yet to use any oil between changes, and is still
just as peppy as when we bought him. We do have the 5 speed, which is (according
to my reliable source) a better choice than the automatic. My mechanic says the
main problem with these guys is a weak head gasket. Keep an eye on the back of
the engine for signs of leakage and you should be ok.
