It's more a matter of how do you keep the
oil "in" rather than keeping the dirt out!
They have a "scroll" type integral deal "back there" which requires
plenty of crank case ventilation to work properly:
this is how British cars got their "constant
and contiuous oil leak" (to one extent or
another) reputation for which they are
infamous. One of the guys on the list
who rebuild these engines will "come
up" shortly, no doubt (Gerard, perhaps?)
and explain how this "doesn't" work!! :)
Today, we have "add on" rear oil seals
available from www.MiniMania.com to
supplement the stock "scroll" integral
system.
