Got a bit of a problem on my ignition on my Mark 3.I have made my own harness
as I wasnt that impressed with the rubbish that came from Moss <spit>
I am using the Haynes manual as a diagram.Obviously the starter solenoid
controls the starter. Now on my Haynes diagram it shows a wire coming off of
the battery to the solenoid then from the solenoid to the starter.
My question is shouldnt there be some kind of wire from the ignition to the
secondary contacts on the solenoid? I cant see how when you turn the ignition
you are getting the solenoid to click on to provide juice to the starter.Has
Haynes missed something?
Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated.
Just a quick update on the restoration of the Mk 3. Due to the kindness of
another list member I have the fender issue sorted out and managed to help
someone else who had the same problem. The fender is now on the car and
painted.
Unfortunatley for the seller (fortunate for me though) I found a badly
accident damaged car a Mark 4 with a very recently rebuilt engine and trans
which I purchased and is now in the Mk 3 and seems to run very well.I have
had some time off before I head off to Guam for a few weeks so I have nearly
got the car complete except this ignition issue and one or two other minor
annoyances.
Any ideas on this one would be greatly appreciated. TIA Brandon.
