Bob,
I hear where you're coming from. I agree with you to an extent but I don't mind
the occassional distractions that don't involve spridgets if they don't go too
far and don't involve too many emails.

My main gripes are these. The listers that feel obligated to respond to almost
every single message that's posted, even if it doesn't involve them or doesn't
contribute anything at all. The best example of that is the member that claims
he is in the airline industry. His mail goes right in the trash on this
computer. The other waste are the members that respond to a question from
another member with "I don't know" or "So and so will probably respond" Also
obnoxious are the holiday greetings. If there are members you want to send
greetings that could be done off-list. There are probably no more than 20 or 30
people any one member "knows" on the spridget list. Why send it to 80-90-150
others?

This is a really great list and a really good tool, but even after Marks
several warnings and advice people seem to want to continue abusing it.
Here's a question. If this tool is shut down are any of the members that abuse
it willing to step in and setup a substitute? That means buying hardware and
maintaining it. And everything else involved.

I guess I have been on and off this list from somewhere back around the
