Exactly my point "Commander Bob"!
But you said it better than I (not a difficult feat, as most listers who
know me already
know!).
Although most of this is intended as good
fun and designed to get under the skin
of guys like Brad, etc., what you say IS
true. A full grown cat in it's prime can do
a tremendous amount of damage in very
short order (welder's gloves and the like
notwithstanding!) when scared, cornered or otherwise feeling really
threatened.
And he/she may or may not provide warning in a verbal sense. Their
personalities can be as different as
night and day, "pets" or not, size
notwithstanding.
When the big Tom down the road cornered my smaller Phred one day,
Phred (who normally would rather
"flight" than "fight") transformed in a
heartbeat from a small cowering fur
ball into a screamingly angry P/O'd
fighter coming out of the corner like
a rocket, "swinging", all teeth and claws.
Here I am ready to jump the Tom on
his behalf! Yeah, right!
Now, any time the two meet, the Tom
skittishly "crosses the street" while Phred
(the more ferocious) continues to stroll along HIS intended path never
missing a beat, as he momentarily "honors" the bigger Tom witha
slit-eyed, "stony"
glance al la Clint Eastwood. Cool cat!!
Once in a while, the bigger
Tom will turn and "shadow" Phred, but
always at a respectful distance. Hilarious!!
Incidentally, glad you "came up" today.
I have a young adult who is interested in
joining the service. You are career Coast
Guard, sir?
