The 727 aircraft was fitted with a lock preventing the
aft airstair from being opened in flight shortly after
Mr. Cooper did his " Geronimo" thing. To airline types
it is known as the db cooper lock. It works like a
weather vane, as the aicraft accelerates, the airflow
across the lock rotating it into position preventing
the lowering of the airstairs in flight.
