Well, Mike, I think I was the only one who was bored, so I'll answer your
question.
1. Get a wider pan to catch it all.
2. Take out the radiator, take it to a radiator shop, and have them braze in
a petcock (love that word) so you can drain it easier the next time. They
will clean and test the radiator at the same time. And it's not very
expensive.
One of the best things you can have in your neighborhood is a good radiator
shop. There is one near me that I have been using since 1966. We also have
a great auto electric shop, similar vintage.
