I assume that you havn't removed the pistons from their rods?
Normaly the rods and caps are stamped with their bore numbers.
The numbers face away from the camshaft side of the engine.
There is an off-set on the rods so that the boss (fatter side) of
bearings 1 and 2, and similarly of 3 and 4 are facing each other.
