Jeff,
There is more than one type of ball joint splitter and they come in different
sizes. I have one where I wind a bolt into it and it thus 'splits' the
joint. There is a 'technique' that involves the use of 2 hammers but other
than saying belt it with the hammers I don't know how to describe it.
