Now that I am going to replace the timing chain and maybe sprockets, what is
the list's thoughts on stock, Kent, or the pricey timing belt conversion that
Mini Mania sells?
I bought the timing belt conversion kit from Mini Mania. I have a stock lower
end ( for now), aluminum head cleaned up, a Kent 266 cam, a 45DCOE Weber, and
a LCB manifold. I installed this on my engine, degreed in my cam, and have had
no problems with it. I bought it because the engine timing runs off this and
usually when a timing chain stretches it allows the timing to move over a
range ( larger depending on wear).I've found that the timing on my Sprite has
not moved . On my Mitsu the timing belt has to be changed every 60,000 miles.
I expect that this one will be the same.
I thought that this kit was worth the $$$. And I'm retired on a fixed income!
