I'd rather see my son called up for war, or be called up myself, than to
see defenseless civillians murderously attacked. This country was built
and shaped by the sacrifices of men and women. If we don't think
freedom is worth fighting for, we won't have freedom for long. If they
are willing to send their sons on suicide missions for what they
believe, we must be willing to see meet their challenge. We can take
the fight to them, wait for them to come get us, or do nothing and let
them steal our freedoms a little at a time. Fortunately, we have a huge
technological advantage. It's time for our leaders to be statesmen and
our people to be citizens.
Like it or not, they scored a victory. They managed to rob us of a
small part of our freedom. Like Japans "awakening of a sleeping giant",
this event is a call to action. We should once again display "the fury
of an aroused democracy".
I don't remember Munich. But, Napoleon once said "Give me allies to
fight against." Our true friends will become apparent in the near
future.
