Yes, our world has changed and not
necessarily for the better, in some respects, huh?

We have become aware we have a
very serious problem which needs to
be fixed.

Right or wrong, this is going to hurt,
but better them than me, my neighbors,
etc. (I use the term "neighbors" in both
the "local" and "international" sense.)
