Ron,
I sure can understand that emotion-- feel it too, all through my body.
But jumping on a "likely suspect" because we are angry and he happens to be
a "likely suspect" isn't what America or American ideals of justic e are
about. Michigan is full of Arab-Americans and they too are now the object
of people's anger and suspicion. Until I know which one of them may have
been involved, I'm going to refrain from giving the finger to every Arab I
see.
As for Afghanistan becomming the 51st state....ask the Russians about how
easy that might be. I remember Vietnam. And what if the "bad guys" turn
out to be Libyan? We might annex the wrong country and be stuck with a mob
of immigrants coming over to take our jobs (like Californians flocking to
Colorado).
I suggest prayer, compassion, and methodical, well-grounded action when the
target becomes clear.
