Yes, I have a 1500, but didn't repeat it in every post. The 1500 oil
pump is $80, but is very easy to replace (drop the oil pan and remove
three bolts).
My point with my original question wasn't to say "I want to take a short
cut and not replace the oil pump because I'm cheap, can I get away with
this?" I was just curious if there was a valid reason to replace it
other than "well, you're there you might as well do it." You know,
there's no question whether you replace bearings on a rebuild: of
course you do. There is no question about reusing your block and
crankshaft: of course you do. But some parts arguably aren't always
necessary to replace.

Subject: Re: Oil pump replacement, now timing chain replacement
let me guess, you have a 1500, cause you got to pull the engine to
replace
the oil pump on a A series.
