Removing Chrome?

Does anyone on the List know of a good method for removing chrome, which can 
be done at home?

I've got several smallish chromed parts with  the usual dents, scratches, 
rust, etc. I would like to remove the chrome & repair the parts. I plan on 
sending them out to either be re-chromed or powder-coated.
