Ironhead went to the dream cruise a little later then I had hoped. Because the
was a threat of rain, I had to put the studs in for the top. I got there about
10:00 AM, ran about 3 miles of Woodward. Got lots of thumbs up, and nice car
compliments.
When I found the Healey Club site, there were 7 big Healey's and 4 Bugeyes.
One was a converted race car that used to belong to Jay Lutz. It was it's
first outing. I have a great admiration for someone who can redo a Bugeye and
have it run for it's first outing!
It was a very good day, slightly overcast and not too hot. Evidence of
considerable commercialism with most of the good spots taken by Ford,
Chrysler, Eaton , etc. But the real story of the cruise is the cars.I saw
every thing from a clapped out Pacer to lthe latest 550 Mondello(they were
two). Great memory lane stuff!
I went over to the Tr*****h club party( I own a TR8, plus it's hands down the
best club in town!) at a house 300 yards off Woodward. There were the usual
TR3's, TR4's and TR6's. But there were also a cherry resto of a 1967 Z28, a
442, a Jenson Healey, a Harley, and, of course, a Bugeye!
Since I brought marinated shrimp, (what is it about English car owners and
food, anyway?) I was heartily welcomed. Had some food, showed the Harley guy
my car, and went over to Woodward to look at cars. A great day!
On the way home, my tach quit and the car started to run intermittently on 3
cylinders, but I got home. Just another day in the life of a LBC owner!
Will post pics next week, after they get delevoped.
