Hello chuck,
there IS another way.. or a couple of the actually besides
getting out the copper coat or the DE-OX...
you could use wire nuts.. easilly available.. but ugly.. lumpy.
.. but a good connection.. the other is to get "spade"
connectors.. one male, one female for each connection..
available in the insulated variety.. . .. simply crimp on then
slide together.. . a good solid connection.. if corrosion is
indeed a problem wrap any of the connectors (lucas, spade, wire
nut.. with some SCOTCH 33 electrical tape.. don't use any other
brand or try to go cheap.. nothing else works as well .. unless
it is another 3M product..
for COMPLETE waterproofing.. take any of the connectors above
mentioned.. make the connection, then get some "glyptol" from your local
electrical supply wholesaler..
coat the connection using a brush... don't touch until dry ..
then wrap with "33".. this connection will hold up even
underwater.. indefintely... ...
oh yeah.. i am an electrician by trade..
