Got on this "thread" late... but, Someone used JB weld on an exhuast
manifold and I was shocked when I heard of it. My dad's F-150 exhuast
manifold had a wide crack after a botched head gasket replacement job. I
dunno how it cracked, I just took it off... set it on the ground... put it
back in, and bammo massive crack. Anyway I applied several coats of JB weld
to fill the crack and left it raw on the outside. It was near an opening so
I mannaged to get some tape on the back side while pressing the JB weld into
the crack. The tape came flying out the exhuast pipe when we started her up
and warmed her up... no exhuast leak... that was about a year ago... no
probs since. Who knows how long it will last.
Good luck
Toby
Thanks Rob,
Had the usual happy hour at the breakers but couldn't find anything
right. Various forms from minis, metros, 1100 and minors would all
fit the block, but the length and position of the exhaust pipe end
dosn't match to my exhaust fitting.
I then decided to use a high temp. resin "steel in a tube" stuff that
I have and so far it seems to have worked. Not sure how long it will
last when I start hitting 6000 rpm though!
Guy
