Chuck,
Tappet clearance is .012 cold. Spec page also shows .015 for "competition
work" however.
Plug gap should be .026 so .040 seems pretty wide.
12 flats down is a starting point for adjustment and will likely be too way
too rich. They should be adjsuted to where a small manual rise in the
dashpot piston does not change the idle speed, or use a Colortune.
