I found out, by doing it at the suggestion of a hot rod machine shop, that
the ring gear can be removed and turned around on the flywheel (with
application of acetylene heat) The shop did it for me. At first I didn't
think it was working but that was because I had the aluminum bracket turned
around the wrong way and the starter was jamming. ONce I got that
straightened out, it works great.
