My Miata story is an MX5 story because that is what they are called over
here.
While driving with the roof down with a front wing (fender) strapped into the
passenger seat and footwell I overtook a Miata/MX5 on a stretch of dual
carriageway.
I can't remember if I was doing much over or under a 100mph (not easy with
the roof down because of the increased drag). But after some serious late
braking coming into a roundabout he was left for dead with my exhaust note
ringing in his/her ears.
My other Miata/MX5 story is about some clown who put their foot down so hard
through a turn (in a 30mph area) they got into a serious power slide that
almost wiped them out. Possibly this car was not standard - a local company
does a turbo conversion.
In case anyone thinks this is exaggerated I can only say that I did 'lose' to
the Lotus Elise that I got into a minor 'race' with and even if I hadn't
missed my 1st to 2nd shift when I caught up with him under braking there was
no way I was ever going to get past but think I could have kept up.
