The majority of Sierras used the Ford Type nine or N or 9 gearbox. The
Cosworth Sierras and other performance Fords used the Borg Warner T5 which is
completely different and dimensionally bigger box altogether but has the same
bolt pattern (as far as I know).
So, if you can get it to fit it will work with a Frontline kit but I suspect
it is simply toooo biggg to go in the tunnel.
Don't believe everything you read in car magazine they often carry huge
numbers of inaccuries. In the case of the T5 there are numerous and wildly
different versions a bit like the A-Series engine from a 998 tranverse Mini
engine to a 1275 Spridget - the same but not the same!

T5 transmission from a Merkur XR4Ti (Ford Sierra in Europe).
I was reading "Practical Classics", Spring 2001 and on page 107 they
have an article about putting a V-8 into a Capri GXL. The mentioned
that they will be using a Brog Warner T5 transmission from a Sierra.
They also state that the T5 was commonly used in the US behind V-8s in Ford
Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros and others. Does anyone know if this is
fact of fiction? If it is fact it just has become easier to find that
5 speed for the 1500 Midget. Any thoughts?
